The youth at CYC Crown Center made adorable valentines this year— seed paper hearts!

First, they choose which colors they want, and they cut and tear the paper into tiny pieces. Then the paper gets soaked in warm water, and the kids can mash up the paper with their hands!

I carefully use a hand blender in each bowl to help make the paper mash extra fine, and then the kids squeeze out the water and place the mash into heart molds with seeds… we used basil, calendula, and parsley seeds!

The final step is to squeeze as much water out as possible by pressing a paper towel into the mold…

And voila! Carefully remove the heart from the mold, and let it dry overnight. Happy Valentines Day!
